There is one thing the tools discussed in the previous chapter cannot do: turn material stored in a family history database into Web pages to produce an on-line tree. For this you are going to need to take your family tree package as the starting point and choose one of three options:
If you use genealogy software which has facilities for outputting Web pages, then you will be able create the pages directly from the program.
No matter what genealogy software you are using, it should be able to save the data in GEDCOM format, and you will be able to use a conversion utility to turn the GEDCOM file into a set of Web pages.
Your genealogy program may be able to save reports in some other file format which you can either convert to HTML or put on-line directly.
This chapter will look at these options in turn.
