This chapter will look at the basics of creating a simple Web page using a text editor. You could also use a word-processor, as long as you remember to use your word-processor's save as text or save as ASCII option to save the file - do not save your page in your normal word-processor format, as your browser will not be able to make any sense of it.

The purpose of this section is not to teach you all there is to know about Web page creation, and it is not structured as a tutorial, but it will give you an idea of what sort of page layout and design facilities are available, and how to make use of them. (The information in this chapter is fairly detailed and you may want to skip it if you're not ready to try creating pages at this stage.)
